Paper Description
The main goals of this paper are:
- To establish foundations for the practical application of grammar, vocabulary, and idioms as well as to introduce absolute beginners to basic communicative skills in Korean with equal emphasis on speaking, listening, writing and reading
- To provide the necessary self-study skills and knowledge for further language learning and cultural competence development related to Korean contexts.
Paper Structure
You will have two hours of lectures and 2 hours of tutorials per week. You will be expected to acquire key grammar and vocabulary knowledge through lectures and to actively participate in tutorial activities to enhance your Korean language skills.
This paper will cover Chapters 1-9 of Learn Korean with BTS Book 1 and 2. You will be able to borrow the textbook from the lecturer during the trimester. Additional materials and workbook assignments will be provided by the lecturers.
You will be expected to submit the workbook assignment corresponding to each lesson electronically every fortnight.
In response to the ongoing COVID situation, lecture and tutorial attendance will not be a component of the overall grade. In order to progress to the expected level in the language, it is crucial that you attend and participate in scheduled classes, whether in person or via zoom. Each lesson will cover content that will help you do workbook assignments and prepare for exams. All the lectures and tutorials will be recorded and available on Moodle.
